Jefferson Community Health Care Centers, Inc., a Federally Qualified Health Center, is a non-profit organization established to deliver health care to the uninsured and underinsured residents in and around Jefferson Parish. Jefferson Community Health Care Centers (JCHCC) was established in 2004, with its primary location in Avondale, Louisiana. After Hurricane Katrina, JCHCC placed an Urgent Care modular facility at the emergency area of West Jefferson General Hospital to service the surge of patients seeking primary and urgent care. In November 2006, the modular clinic was moved to its current location at 1855 Ames Blvd. in Marrero. As JCHCC outgrew the modular facility, the clinic later moved into its current permanent site at Marrero Health Unit.
This site currently serves as the Marrero Comprehensive Health Center. In May of 2007, Jefferson Parish awarded the use of another health center on the East bank of Jefferson Parish, which is located at 11312 Jefferson Highway in River Ridge. To ensure the commitment of quality health care in all of Jefferson Parish. Jefferson Community Health Care Centers services not only include Primary and Preventive medicine, but also includes Nutrition Education, Disease Management, Podiatry, Optometry, Mental Health counseling, assessments, and referrals for specialty services. The most recent program is the Pediatric Wellness program. This program focuses on Health and Weight management for children ages 5-18. (Marrero location only). This program was developed to reduce the risk of complications due to childhood obesity. The Shape Up- Weight Management Program offers Nutritional Education and physical fitness with health monitoring by the Medical Staff and A certified fitness trainer.
Jefferson Community Health Care Centers offers social services at all sites. The patient services representatives assist patients with the following services; Medicaid Applications, Medication Assistance, Specialty referrals, Patient Education and continuous networking with various community organizations, to ensure that all patient needs will be addressed. Jefferson Community Health Care Centers is a KidMed Provider, A member of the Louisiana Primary Care Association (LPCA) and the National Association of Community Health Care Centers (NACHC) and Joint Commission Accredited.
JCHCC has committed to join the nation's efforts to address the problem of access to quality health care for those who cannot afford the usual expenses associated with public and private medical centers. Jefferson Community Health Care Centers’ future programs are dental care and pharmacy services. JCHCC has dedicated its mission to "Making Health Care Affordable and Accessible for All".JCHCC‘s goal is to bring a full service health program within the community, promoting prevention for all.
